A TRIBUTE TO THE POET ROGER FRITH
 (a 22-page pamphlet)

Roger Frith’s poetry is known to few, but he made an impact on well-known writers like Laurie Lee, Ronald Blythe and Arnold Wesker, and he had many successes as a broadcaster and scriptwriter, working with actors such as Freddie Jones and Judi Dench. He died in unhappy circumstances in 2008, and this little pamphlet, containing an introduction and a selection of his work across several decades, is a tribute to him.

He was not in the mainstream of poetry in his time; his affinities were with writers like John Clare and Edward Thomas, but he had a very distinctive ‘voice’. His work was uneven, but he deserves better of posterity than oblivion. Many people find that they like his poems very much indeed – when once they come across him. Modest though it is, this selection is a way in.
